Jose Manuel Moreno-Maroto is a final-year Assistant Professor at the Department of
Geology and Geochemistry, Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain). He obtained his
PhD from the University of Castilla-La Mancha in 2019, receiving the distinctions
Cum Laude and International Doctorate, together with four doctoral thesis awards,
including the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the University of Castilla-La
Mancha and the Best Doctoral Thesis Award from the Spanish Ceramic and Glass
Society. His research focuses on the development of advanced and sustainable
geomaterials for construction and environmental applications, particularly
lightweight aggregates, geopolymers, zeolites and hybrid zeolite-geopolymer systems
(zeopolymers) produced from industrial, agricultural and construction wastes.
Dr. Moreno-Maroto has published more than 40 papers in JCR-indexed journals, which
have received over 1,200 citations to date. He has participated in numerous
competitive research projects funded at European, national and regional levels and
currently serves as Principal Investigator of national and regional research
projects. He is the inventor of five patents related to sustainable construction
materials and has led several R&D transfer projects in collaboration with the
industry. In addition, he serves as reviewer and evaluator for scientific journals
and research funding agencies, is a member of several international scientific
societies and technical committees, and currently serves on the Board of the Spanish
Clay Society.
