Dr. Nayla Munawar is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), with an interdisciplinary background in chemistry, biotechnology, biochemistry, and biomaterials. Her current research focuses on polysaccharide-based biomaterials, biohydrogels, and nanotechnology, particularly the development of functional materials for biomedical and antimicrobial applications. Her work integrates enzyme engineering, carbohydrate chemistry, nanozymes, drug delivery, and microbial systems to design innovative platforms with enhanced biological functionality. She is particularly interested in combining biocatalysis and nanomaterials to develop sustainable, multifunctional systems for antimicrobial and other biomedical applications. Dr. Munawar has extensive international research experience and has published in leading peer-reviewed journals, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary research at the interface of biochemistry, biotechnology, and advanced materials.
