Personal Bio

Dr. Farooq Sher is a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Energy Engineering at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), UK, specialising in sustainable energy and environmental technologies for the transition towards net zero. His expertise encompasses carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), renewable and alternative fuels, waste-to-energy systems, resource recovery, low-carbon processes, and functional materials for energy and environmental applications.

His research takes an interdisciplinary approach to developing practical solutions for decarbonisation, resource efficiency and cleaner energy systems. A growing dimension of his work involves integrating artificial intelligence, digitalisation and data-driven approaches with energy technologies to enhance process performance, support optimisation and enable more effective pathways towards industrial decarbonisation.

Dr Sher is actively engaged in international and interdisciplinary research collaborations addressing major challenges associated with climate change mitigation, energy security, circular economy and environmental sustainability. He contributes to research initiatives that connect fundamental scientific understanding with engineering innovation and real-world applications, with particular emphasis on scalable solutions capable of supporting cleaner, more resilient and resource-efficient energy systems. His broader academic activities include research leadership, postgraduate supervision and the development of collaborative networks across energy and environmental engineering.
